1、不理解题干含义,进而由于看不懂题干中的生词,而造成无法在文章中找到关键词后回题干进行同意替换;
2、画完定位词后,记不住那么多词(脑容量小);
14题题干:a biological explanation of the teacher-subjects’ behavior
18题题干:the general aim of sociobiological study

1. They based their calendars on three natural cycles: the solar day, marked by the successive periods of light and darkness as the earth rotates on its axis; the lunar month, following the pass of the moon as it orbits the earth; and the solar year, defined by the changing seasons that accompany our planet’s revolution around the sun. (C8T1)
2. Hence, the calendars that were developed at the lower latitude were influenced more by the lunar cycle than by the solar year. (C8T1)
In more northern climes, however, where seasonal agriculture was practiced, the solar year became more crucial. (C8T1)
However, in more northern climes where seasonal agriculture was practiced, the solar year became more crucial.
As the Roman Empire expanded northward,k it organized its activity chart for the most part around the solar year. (C8T1)
In oder to track temporal hours during the day, investors created sundials, which indicate time by the length or direction of the sun’s shadow. the length or direction of the sun’s shadow是个很长的名词短语,A of B在中文中翻译成B 的A,所以这歌短语的意思是:太阳影子的长度或方向。

(1) 考查范围分两种:部分与全文(Summary的考查范围有可能是原文中的局部内容,比如说某一段、某几段或是某一个section;当然,也有可能考查整篇文章的内容梗概。);
(2) 题目顺序与原文内容相一致(也就是说,每一道题目的答案在原文中出现的位置都在前一道题目答案所在原文位置的后面。);
(1) 明确阅读范围和答案的字数限制(在做题之初要仔细阅读题目要求,查看是否有提示阅读范围的语句出现,并确定答案的字数限制,绝对不要超字!);
(2) 通过首、末句从宏观上确定全题在原文的阅读范围(如果整个题目的首、尾句是完整的一句话而没有出题,我们就可以通过这两句话中的定位词将这两句话在原文中出现的位置分别找出来,那么这两句话之间的原文范围就是我们完成整个总结摘要题所需要阅读的文字范围。当然,如果题目中只有单独的首句或尾句没有出题,我们还是可以通过这两句话中任何一句的定位词确定整个总结摘要题在原文中起始或结束的位置。但是,如果整个题目的首句或尾句都是带着题目出现的话,我们就没有必要再强行使用这两句话来进行圈定范围的工作了。因此,解题思路中的第二步其实相当于一个“可选项”。在实战中究竟是用或不用,关键取决于题目的呈现方式:整个题目首、尾句都没出题或是其中任何一句没出题的话就可以考虑使用,否则直接进入第三步。);
(3) 从微观上划出每道小题所在句中的定位词,并判断空格处的词性(每道小题出现在原文中的位置都取决于题目中定位词出现在原文中的位置,因此要想找出每道小题在原文中出现的位置还是要依靠每道小题所在题目中的定位词。同时,对于空格处答案词性的预判可以帮助我们缩小考虑答案的范围,更有甚者,通过大量的研究发现:一般在有定位词出现的原文语句中凡是符合词性判断的单词通常就是题目的答案);
(4) 用定位词回到原文逐一找寻相应的内容出处;

5 - Page50 - Test 2 – READING PASSAGE 3 (The Birth of Scientific English ) - Questions 28-34
Choose NO MORE THAN TWO WORDS from the passage for each answer.
In Europe, modern science emerged at the same time as the nation state. At first, the scientific
language of choice remained 28 . It allowed scientists to communicate with
other socially privileged thinkers while protecting their work from unwanted exploitation.
Sometimes the desire to protect ideas seems to have been stronger than the desire to
communicate them, particularly in the case of mathematicians and 29 .
In Britain, moreover, scientists worried that English had neither the 30 nor the
31 to express their ideas. This situation only changed after 1660 when scientists
associated with the 32 set about developing English. An early scientific journal
fostered a new kind of writing based on short descriptions of specific experiments. Although
English was then overtaken by 33 , it developed again in the 19th century as a
direct result of the 34 .
1. 通过阅读题目要求,我们并没有发现任何有关阅读范围的语句提示。但是对于答案的字数限制是“最多不超过两个单词”,也就是说将来作为答案的内容有可能是一个单词或词组;
Given the prominence of scientific English today, it may seem surprising that no one really knew how to write science in English before the 17th century. Before that, Latin was regarded as the lingua franca for European intellectuals.
Doctors clung the most keenly to Latin as an ‘insider language’.
English was not well equipped to deal with scientific argument. First, it lacked the necessary technical vocabulary. Second, it lacked the grammatical resources required to represent the world in… .
④ 第32题所对应的原文内容出现在49页右侧第一段的第一句话(后面其余的部分以及该侧的第二段内容都是作为例证出现的):Fortunately, several members of the Royal Society possessed an interest in language and became engaged in various linguistic projects.
In the following century much of this momentum was lost as German established itself as the leading European language of science. However, in the 19th century scientific English again enjoyed substantial lexical growth as the industrial revolution created the need for… .
1. 如果我们在判断第28题词性的时候能够敏锐地发现后面那句话的主语(it)其实就是这句话的宾语,那么答案直接就可以判断成是名词。而且,肯定是“一种语言”,做题效率将大为提高。通过这道题我们可以看出:对于答案词性的判断要“瞻前顾后”;
2. 第29题的形式本身就在暗示我们题目的答案是名词的复数形式而且还得表示“人”,所以在做题的时候可以直接回到mathematician周围找寻表示“人”的复数形式的名词即可,但要注意两者是“并列关系”(因此,相关原文中的scientists不能作为答案!)。通过这道题我们可以看出:题目内在的逻辑关系不仅可以帮助我们更好地划分定位词,还能帮助我们在词性的基础上对答案进行更进一步的判断;
3. 在第32题中出现了雅思阅读中常见的表示“A与B之间有关系”的说法:associate A with B(常见的同义替换有:link A to B, relate A to B, assign A to B, A is bound up with B)。通过这道题我们可以看出:对于真题中高频固定搭配的使用可以更为高效地划分定位词;
4. 如果我们能够识别出第33题中overtaken是“被取代、被替换”的意思的话,题目的答案就可以直接判断为首字母大写,表示“语言”的单词,加之有定位词the 19th century的辅助,做题效率大为提升。通过这道题我们可以看出:当答案本身在外形上具有特征特点时,可在定位词的辅助下直接借助外形查找答案;
1. 通过此题我们可以发现:在名词性原词重现中,名词或名词词组的原词重现又是绝大多数,而且这一规律普遍适用于此类题型;
2. 尽管我们在“题型特点”中的第三点提到答案均为“原词重现”,但是在第29题的答案中却出现了将“Doctors”(原文)改为“doctors”(题目)的情况,但严格意义上来讲这并不算是违反规律,主要是由于作为答案的单词在原文和题目中所处的位置不同而所造成的,所以今后我们在做题的时候对这一情况稍加留心即可;
3. 对于答案词性甚至是外形(比如说第28和33题,答案的首字母都大写)的判断可以大大地加快解题速度,而且要将空格处前、后的单词或内容同时加以考虑(如第28题的答案其实就是名词,表“语言”,不可能是形容词);
1) a reference to the exchange of expertise between different sports
AIS scientists work across a number of sports,applying skills learned in one对应题目1中的the exchange of expertise between different sports。
2) an explanation of how visual imaging is employed in investigations
It collects images from digital cameras running at 50 frames a second,这句话对应题目中的视觉影像一词。
3) a reason for narrowing the scope of research activity
They all focus on one aim: winning.对应题目3中的narrowing the scope of research activity。
4) how some AIS ideas have been reproduced
Of course, there's nothing to stop other countries copying-and many have tried.
5) how obstacles to optimum achievement can be investigated
His turn times were 44 hundredths of a second behind the other guy,' says Mason. 'If he can improve on his turns,he can do much better,这句话是指影响运动员提高表现的因素是如何被提高和改善的。
6) an overview of the funded support of athletes
Another body, the Australian Sports Commission , finances programmes of excellence in a total of 96 sports for thousands of sportsmen and women.
7) how performance requirements are calculated before an event
Well before a championship, sports scientists and coaches start to prepare the athlete by developing a 'competition model', 对应题目7中的before an event.

A.
When Denis Hennequin took over as the European boss of McDonald’s in January , the world’s biggest restaurant chain was showing signs of recovery in America and Australia, but sales in Europe were sluggish or declining. One exception was France, where Mr Hennequin had done a sterling job as head of the group’s French subsidiary to sell more Big Macs to his compatriots. His task was to replicate this success in all 41 of the European countries where anti-globalisers’ favourite enemy operates.
B.
So far Mr Hennequin is doing well. Last year European sales increased by 5.8% and the number of customers by 3.4%, the best annual results in nearly 15 years. Europe accounted for 36% of the group’s profits and for 28% of its sales. December was an especially good month as customers took to seasonal menu offerings in France and Britain, and to a promotion in Germany based on the game of Monopoly.
C
Mr Hennequin’s recipe for revival is to be more open about his company’s operations, to be “locally relevant”, and to improve the experience of visiting his 6,400 restaurants. McDonald’s is blamed for making people fat, exploiting workers, treating animals cruelly, polluting the environment and simply for being American. Mr Hennequin says he wants to engage in a dialogue with the public to address these concerns.
D.
He introduced “open door” visitor days in each country which became hugely popular. In Poland alone some 50,000 visitors came to McDonald’s through the visitors’ programme last year. The Nutrition Information Initiative, launched last year, put detailed labels on McDonald’s packaging with data on calories, protein, fat, carbohydrates and salt content. The details are also printed on tray-liners.
E.
Mr Hennequin also wants people to know that “McJobs”, the low-paid menial jobs at McDonald’s restaurants, are much better than people think. But some of his efforts have backfired: last year he sparked a controversy with the introduction of a “McPassport” that allows McDonald’s employees to work anywhere in the European Union. Politicians accused the firm of a ploy to make cheap labour from eastern Europe more easily available to McDonald’s managers across the continent.
F.
To stay in touch with local needs and preferences, McDonald’s employs local bosses as much as possible. A Russian is running McDonald’s in Russia, though a Serb is in charge of Germany. The group buys mainly from local suppliers. Four-fifths of its supplies in France come from local farmers, for example. (Some of the French farmers who campaigned against the company in the late 1990s subsequently discovered that it was, in fact, buying their produce.) And it hires celebrities such as Heidi Klum, a German model, as local brand ambassadors.
G.
In his previous job Mr Hennequin established a “design studio” in France to spruce up his company’s drab restaurants and adapt the interior to local tastes. The studio is now masterminding improvements everywhere in Europe. He also set up a “food studio”, where cooks devise new recipes in response to local trends.
H.
Given France’s reputation as the most anti-American country in Europe, it seems odd that McDonald’s revival in Europe is being led by a Frenchman, using ideas cooked up in the French market. But France is in fact the company’s most profitable market after America. The market where McDonald’s is weakest in Europe is not France, but Britain.
I.
“Fixing Britain should be his priority,” says David Palmer, a restaurant analyst at UBS. Almost two-thirds of the 1,214 McDonald’s restaurants in Britain are company-owned, compared with 40% in Europe and 15% in America. The company suffers from the volatility of sales at its own restaurants, but can rely on steady income from franchisees. So it should sell as many underperforming outlets as possible, says Mr Palmer.
J.
M.Mark Wiltamuth, an analyst at Morgan Stanley, estimates that European company-owned restaurants’ margins will increase slightly to 16.4% in . This is still less than in the late 1990s and below America’s 18-19% today. But it is much better than before Mr Hennequin’s reign. He is already being tipped as the first European candidate for the group’s top job in Illinois. Nobody would call that a McJob.

Questions 14-19
Reading Passage 2 has nine paragraphs, A-I.
Which paragraph contains the following information?【
Write the correct letter A-I in boxes 14-19 on your answer sheet.
14. a biological explanation of the teacher-subjects' behaviour
15. the explanation Milgram gave the teacher-subjects for the experiment
16. the identity of the pupils
17. the expected statistical outcome
18. the general aim of sociobiological study
19. the way Milgram persuaded the teacher-subjects to continue
14. a biological explanation of the teacher-subjects' behaviour 【
15. the explanation Milgram gave the teacher-subjects for the experiment 【
16. the identity of the pupils【
17. the expected statistical outcome【
18. the general aim of sociobiological study【
19. the way Milgram persuaded the teacher-subjects to continue【
A A few years ago, in one of the most fascinating and disturbing experiments in behavioural psychology, Stanley Milgram of Yale University tested 40 subjects from all walks of life for their willingness to obey instructions given by a 'leader' in a situation in which…
…the subjects might feel a personal distaste for the actions they were called upon to perform. Specifically, Milgram told each volunteer 'teacher-subject' that the experiment was in the noble cause of education, and was designed to test whether or not punishing pupils for their mistakes would have a positive effect on the pupils' ability to learn.
Step 4.
B Milgram's experimental set-up involved placing the teacher-subject before a panel of thirty switches with labels ranging from '15 volts of electricity (slight shock)' to '450 volts (danger - severe shock)' in steps of 15 volts each….
The teacher-subject was told that whenever the pupil gave the wrong answer to a question, a shock was to be administered, beginning at the lowest level and increasing in severity with each successive wrong answer. The supposed 'pupil' was in reality an actor hired by Milgram to ….
Step 4.
NB You may use any letter more than once.
7-2-2 The True Cost Of Food为例:
Questions 14-17
Reading Passage 2 has seven paragraphs, A-G.
Which paragraph contains the following information?
Write the correct letter, A-G, in boxes 14-17 on your answer sheet.
NB You may use any letter more than once.
14. a cost involved in purifying domestic water
15. the stages in the development of the farming industry
16. the term used to describe hidden costs
17. one effect of chemicals on water sources
cost, water;stages, farming;term;chemicals, water sources;
cost很可能对应一个具体的金钱数字,或者和财务相关的词,比如finance等;
stages明显原文中要出先两个以上的阶段;
term在这是术语的意思,那么会对应一个专业术语,而且非常有可能是我们不认识的词;
First mechanization, then mass use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, then monocultures, then battery rearing of livestock, and now genetic engineering ─ the onward march of intensive farming has seemed unstoppable in the last half-century, ...
这句话里面有first, then, then, then等,很明显分了阶段,则对应stages。what economists refer to as externalities这句话里面有一个externalities, 而且refer to是定义的一个指示词,那么我们可以推测这个词即为一个术语,和term相对应。
