It will take place on the western playground on the afternoon of October 30th. Everyone is asked to take part in it. We’ll get together at 3:15 under our school building. It’s hoped that everyone will do a good job. That’s all. Thank you.

STEP 2 REVISION

1. An interview between the teacher and a student and the teacher acts as a reporter while the student acts as a boss of the car factory. This is an example for the others to continue another interview like this.

(REPORTER) Question1: When was the building agreed on?

Question2: Who will work together in your factory?

Question3: How many cars will be produced at the beginning?

Question4: How about two years later?

Question5: Can the cars be sent to the other parts of China?

Question6: Can the cars go broad? And why?

2. Another interview between students. This is a pair work. The students are divided into two groups. One acts the reporter and the other acts the worker of the factory.

(REPORTER) Question1: What will happen if the new company is finished?

Question3: Will all the car parts be made here?

Question4: What’ll happen to the province thanks to the factory?

STEP 3 LISTENING

1. Listen to the tape recordings of Lesson 24 and do ExX1-3 on P132;

2. Listen a second time to check the first two exercises;

3. Listen a third time to finish off the last exercise.

STEP 4 WORD STUDY

Topic 2: A volleyball match between Class 1 and Class 5 next Tuesday. Watch and cheer.

Topic 3: The 6th Fashion Festival open on October 26 on the Tianyi Square. Welcome to take part in it. Some famous singers and dancers at home and abroad will come.

STEP 7 DEBATE

1.As we can see that everything has two sides. A second-hand car may be cheap but it causes a lot of problems, too. Now the new company has been set up. And it will bring a lot of good. Is everything will be good because of the new factory?

2.The debate topic: Is it good to have more and more cars?

3.Now the class will be divided into two parts. One holds the point of view of YES while the other holds NO.

4. Give the students five minutes to prepare.

5. Then the debate will begin.

The students are asked to choose any topic they like to write a short passage after class:

Our life is getting better and better now, partially because of the more new cars. So I think it is good to have more and more new cars.

In the past, there were carts used by people all over the world. Later on, cars were invented. Then great changes took place in our life in many ways. The world is developing faster and better.

Now cars are the most important transport tool of all. When you walk in the street, you can see car after car passing you. People can drive their own cars to go outing. They can have a better time at weekend by driving their cars to go anywhere they want to, because it is easy and quick and cheap.

The cars are made by the car factories. The factories will supply the local people with plenty of jobs. The city with its people will grow rich. For example, in the USA, one out of every six people works on cars. If fewer cars are made in the States, not only the car factories will be closed, but also a large number of people will be jobless. The workers will go hungry and suffer a lot. The car factories can make the city, even a country rich and happy.

New cars are made better than the old ones. The old cars cause air and noise pollution and traffic accidents. But now some scientists have invented new cars to solve these problems. For example, many cars in Beijing and Shanghai are not allowed to use gas with lead in it. In Japan, some cars are almost noiseless. In Germany and the USA, some cars have special computers to operate the cars for the drivers. It is safer to drive these cars and fewer accidents will happen.

Now you can see that newer and better cars will make our life happier and richer. They are sure to make the earth a nice place to live on, too! So I firmly believe: the more new cars are produced, the better our future will be!

THE MORE CARS, THE MORE DISADVANTAGES!

In my opinion, it is bad to make more and more cars. We know that a car is one of the most important travel tools. We have benefited(受益) a lot from cars we are using. But is everything going well with the cars?

With the development of our country, more and more cars are being produced. However, there are too many cars traveling on the streets. And more and more waste gas is made from the growing cars. As a result, the air is becoming dirtier and dirtier. This kind of air is very bad for the people’s health. If someone takes in too much of this air, he is sure to fall ill.

Car after car is running on the street and the noise is produced at the same time. It’s quite difficult to get to sleep or work well in the noise. The noise will keep people awake when they want to sleep. It will stop them from putting their heart into their work, too.

Too many cars are running on the streets and more accidents will come about. As we know, if an accident happens to someone, he or she will be badly hurt, or even die. So too many cars will be very dangerous to the human beings.

In a word, I think that it is a bad thing to make so many cars. We should make as many cars as we need in the daily life, but not more than that. We should let well alone.

The passage of Unit 24 L93 is about finding jobs. Finding a job is what each graduates concern and thus the passage contains some instructive advice in finding a suitable job in the future when they graduate. The approach taken in this passage is of instructions. (However, we do not wish to encourage students to find jobs only basing on the advice given in the passage.)

The new vocabulary items and some difficult sentences of this passage are to be emphasized as they constitute the basis of the understanding of the whole text.

Ss will increase their familiarity with a few reading skills (skimming, scanning, guessing the meanings from the context, paraphrasing, the arrangement of the passage, synopsis, etc.) and get to know a little more about reading between lines.

Step 1: A Free talk

Step 2: Introduction

Greet the students by saying“Good morning,class! Welcome back to school!”

Then say to each of them “Good morning! What’s your name? How are you?”

Get the students to greet each other.

Step 2: Presentation

Say “Good Morning,class.Welcome back to school! Teach this dialogue :

Step 3 : Practice

Play the first dialogue. Students listen and repeat

Practise using their own names

Step 4: Presentation

Teach the dates and repeat the days of the week

Play the tape and ask the students to find the answer

Ask : What day is September 10th ?

Step 5: Make a card

Point out the form of the card

Ask the students to make a Teachers’ Day card for their teacher

Step 6: Important phrases

date指日期,即“几月几日”。如:--What's the date today?--It's October 15.--今天是几号?--10月15号。day指24小时的一整天;也单指白天,与night相对;也表示“星期几”;还可表示重要的日子。如;--What day is today?--It's Tuesday.--今天星期几?--星期二。They worked hard day and night.他们日夜辛勤劳动。Children's Day儿童节。

Step 3 : Practice

Tell the students that Jim is giving a talk tomorrow.

Ask “What is Jim thinking about?

Play the tape for the ss to find the answer

Practise the dialogue in pairs

Step 4 : Reading

Ask “How many names do English people usually have?

Discuss Chinese names: What do Chinese people call each other for short?
