We’ve got loads of them, for example, the one that’s just passed was the National Day holiday, and then we’ve got the Spring Festival of course - that’s probably the most important one - which is at the beginning of the year, sometime around, like, late January, beginning of February, that kind of time. And uh, what else do we have? Uh…oh yeah, the Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and um… there are a few others as well but I can’t remember them all off-hand I’m afraid!

Um…it’s kind of hard to generalize, but I would say, to an extent, yeah. You know, in the West, people go to church, open presents, um…whereas over here, it’s kind of like, just, “let’s get together for a party, go to KTV…” that sort of thing. So it is celebrated, but just in a slightly different way.At least that’s my understanding anyway!

Yeah, I think they really are, cos I mean, here in China, the public holidays are always on a certain festival, so it’s one way of helping maintain all the various customs and traditions we have. Just to give you an example, if you took away the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, it probably wouldn’t get the attention it deserved, and over time, people might simply stop bothering with all the customs that are associated with the festival, like dragon-boat racing. So yeah, I think it’s pretty important that we continue to have them.

We have many traditional festivals in China, the most famous one being Spring Fes-tival, or Chinese New Year. But I’d like to talk about a festival that occurs every year around September or early October, called Zhong Qiu Jie, or Mid-Autumn Day. It is perhaps lesser-known outside of China, but it is personally one of my favourite fes-tivals and one that I look forward to every year.
As the name suggests, Mid-Autumn Day should take place around the middle of au-tumn. The reason the date changes is because it should be the fifteenth day of the eighth month in the Chinese lunar calendar, and this changes in the Western calen-dar depending on the year.
The reason it is one of my favourite festivals is because we eat moon cakes! As well as being delicious, moon cakes have a special meaning. They are round, which is a symbol of family and togetherness. They usually have a sweet filling, which represents a sweet and happy life. Moon cakes are generally only around at this time of year, so it’s important to make the most of them while you can.
As you can tell, I’m a big fan of Mid-Autumn Day. It makes me feel warm, thinking about my family, and a little nostalgic as I remember all the years I have eaten moon cakes. I think it’s very important to keep these traditional festivals going as they rein-force Chinese culture and remind us to think about our families at a time when more and more people may live a long way from home.

1、60%的考生，因“表情”被扣分
在雅思口语评分标准的“发音”评分项中，有这样一个界定：“能够使用表情、肢体语言帮助自己被理解。”根据这个标准，如果你有下列问题，你会被扣分：
(1) 几乎不看考官，可能被扣0.2分。

乍一想，写东西好像并不怎么关系到英语口语的学习，这样想你就错了。
其实在日常的口语应用当中，尤其是雅思口语考试当中，因为雅思口语考试的评分是通过fluency，vocabulary，Grammar，Pronunciation来评判的，其中Vocabulary和Grammar相当程度上是通过大量的写作来加强的，因为写是一个缓慢的输出过程，通过这种方式我们可以有足够的时间来思考使用的词汇和改正语法方面的错误，大量重复的练习可以增强你对词汇和语法使用的熟练度，因为口语考察的不是你会不会的问题，而是你表现出来的用英语交流的水平，也就是你使用语言熟练的程度。

最后一点，也是雅思口语学习中最重要的一个环节，还是要归结为一个字---说。
道理不用多讲，口语再怎么学习，没有开口说这个环节，肯定不会成功。而且对于雅思口语的评分标准来说，Fluency 和 Pronunciation 这两项是一定要通过大量的口头练习才能提高的。Fluency 提高可以从大声朗读开始，还是那句话：一定要坚持。读的时候用你的Mp3录下来，对照材料的原版录音揪发音，看发音有什么不对的地方，模仿原版发音改正过来，每天都反复练，你会看到效果。

备考雅思口语有哪几个阶段呢?
1、恢复语感阶段(第1-2周)：
该阶段最好方法就是背诵英文句型或段落，恢复语感。在背诵前切记要按照录音带有声朗读5遍以上。有学员会说，我试过了，记不住。其实，背诵时最好有中文译文，一边看中文句子，一边背，这样就可以确定背不下来是因为情节的连贯，而不是英语水平的问题。
备考第一阶段的关键在于熟练和自然，考生应尽量熟悉该阶段的话题，并能针对每个题目自然而流畅的进行回答。回答时切记不要只回答yes或者no，或者很简短的答案，要主动的去提供附加信息，以表示自己愿意并且能够进行交流。第一阶段的话题和具体的题目可以在网上找到，建议两者结合使用，以求全面。整个第一阶段就像朋友间的聊天一样，考生可以利用这段时间去适应考官的口音和节奏，并放松自己，尽快进入状态。
2、输入带动输出阶段(第3-5周)：
许多过了四级或六级的同学只是在阅读、听力或写作方面有这些水平，并不代表口语也有四级。所以大家不要认为自己学的口语教材简单。大家可以做个试验，拿一篇你认为很浅显的文章，将其翻译成汉语，然后让别人将每句话读给你听，然后你再翻译成英文，如果没问题，说明你口语很好，否则就需要多做这种练习。
第二阶段的题目较多，内容较广泛。考生如果有足够的时间，可以在精心准备几个典型题目的同时，对其他题目也稍加准备，以免考试时遇到陌生题目手忙脚乱。由于第二阶段准备时间有限，只有1分钟，因此在拿到题目卡后应该在几秒钟内迅速做出决策，确定自己说什么，然后利用剩下的时间在考官提供的草稿纸上做点笔记。在做个人陈述时是可以参考笔记的。如果拿到的题目卡是事先准备过的，也要再仔细的分析一下其中的子话题，看跟自己准备的题目是否有出入，并在笔记上做点提纲，以避免给考官留下背诵文稿的印象。
基本练习方法：
1.每晚躺在床上入睡以前，听BBC和VOA(也可以去书店买光盘);
2.看CCTV9频道;
3.教材：New Concept English Book III，Listen to This，Step by Step;
4.用英文对自己自言自语，将一天发生的事情描述下来，并关键要持之以恒。
5.每星期至少一次看同一部英音的电影故事片，不要看下方翻译，连续三个月以上，口语一定大有进步。
6.到英语角去锻炼口语
7.10分钟自问自答雅思口语问题，陈述卡片5 次，练习回答相关问题。
这些方法都是比较适合中国学生的方法。大家可以从中选出自己最适合的。
3、冲刺阶段(第6-8周)
实际考试第二阶段为individual long turn，考官随机抽取一张题目卡(topic card)，考生准备一分钟，然后就该题目进行1-2分钟的个人陈述。
第三阶段为two-way discussion，考官和考生围绕第二阶段的话题进行4-5分钟的交谈，但考官询问的问题在广度和深度上都有所增加。
从口试的形式可以看出，考官着重考察考生的交际能力。具体而言，考官将会在流利程度(fluency)、语法(grammar)、词汇(vocabulary)和语音(pronunciation)四个方面对考生进行评估，四项比重相当，三个部分在总分中的比重也相同。第三阶段的题目总的来说是围绕第二阶段的话题来进行的，比如，如果第二部分要求考生描述喜欢的一个房间或公寓，那第三部分问题会紧紧围绕住宿和生活方式这样的主题的。
由于问题有了广度和深度，回答起来也就不是那么容易，有些问题可能考生用中文都没有考虑过，更别说用英文来讨论了。在准备第三阶段时，有必要先了解问题的风格和类型。一般而言，第三阶段的题目通常包含描述变化(中国住房近的变化)、做比较(大学生活和中学生活)、做预测(将来交通方式会有何发展)、提出解决方案(如何解决环保问题)以及陈述个人意见(网络对阅读习惯有何冲击)等。但不管类型如何，考生可先给出一个见解(opinion)，然后进行证明，论证方法颇似写作。在词汇方面，由于该阶段属于formal discussion，因此措辞上尽量正式点，在词汇和句型的选择上可以借鉴写作的做法。就话题而言，由于该阶段涵盖的多为issue，如social change，family，tradition，culture，environmental problems，media等等，考生可在平时多阅读英文报纸或杂志，并不妨观看CCTV9的一些关于中国风土人情、传统历史的节目，这对备考第三阶段大有裨益。冲刺阶段大家最担心的应该是第二、三部分，该部分希望能够在考前做到如下几件事：
1.一定要清楚的了解每个卡片的内容,包括卡片上让你将要描述的3-4个问题,大家必须在PART2部分中描述出来,还有就是描述时运用的时态一定搞清楚(老外最讨厌时态混乱了),否则肯定影响你的分数。建议同学们最好总结一下雅思口语高分词汇，对于雅思口语考试很有帮助。
2.每天抽出一定的时间练习,没有条件互相练习的考生可以用录音机把自己说的录下来,然后自己给自己找错误,纠正.就这样反复练习。尽力使自己减少出错.EG:语法错误, he /she运用不当等等.
3.千万不要去背,因为这样即使你说的再好也是4-5分,因为老外可以看出来你准备了。我建议大家最好连写都不写,最多在每个卡片上写点关键的词,根据词每天自己锻炼去说。多准备点有创意和自己的TOPIC相关的内容,越与众不同越好(但不要跑题)!
还有一些细节方面的事情,就是在考试的时候如果停顿或思考时千万不要在说话中间加上“嗯” “啊” “那个(内个)”这些中国语气助词。应该用“well”等等英文语气词。在和老外对话的时候还要记住:
1.眼睛不要乱看,要看着考官的眼睛,也就是eye-contact!.
2.表情不要死板,在对话中要根据自己说的情况和气氛用你的“脸”表现出来“喜怒哀乐”。
3.就是适当的用一些body-language,但是不要过多。还有一些琐碎的事情,不得不提一提:考口语前大家最好洗个澡,刷刷牙(尤其是男生,老外最讨厌身上有异味的人了,包括口臭。),可以的话喷一点香水(老外最喜欢了,呵呵!)。女生最好化化妆,但注意是“淡妆”,千万别浓妆艳丽地去考场吓唬考官(这不是选美)。去考场的时候带点水,因为你肯定最早要提前1小时左右到考场,如果你等待考试期间渴了的话,找水可不是那么容易的啊，也可以带一包口香糖。
最后谈一下口语中的四个评分标准，前3个在介绍3个阶段的备考是都有所提及，惟独语音没有涉及到。语音主要指发音和音调，并不涉及口音。考生不必担心自己口音偏向美音，因为美音也好，英音也好，都是英语的一种口音，不是考官考察的对象。考生应该把注意力放到改善自己的发音上来，争取从语音，即元音、辅音练起，纠正单词的发音，并最终模仿标准的英美语调。

二十多年的雅思考试发展，成熟、专业、变化、灵活成为这门考试的标志性特点，但是万变不离其宗，总有一些规律是不变的，因此要想做到以不变应万变，就应该把握雅思考试的最基本规律，做到知己知彼，百战不殆。
