那是1979年，还不满15岁的徐文建，因家境贫困，经常进城挑潲水回家喂猪。在那个时候，他认识了时年60岁的王子玉老人。老人可怜他年纪小，在餐馆里买了一碗包面（馄饨）给他吃。平时，老人还帮他捡些菜叶，让他拿回去喂猪。徐文建对老人心存感激。老人命运多舛，丈夫体弱多病，儿子双目失明。丈夫病逝后，老人和儿子从租住屋搬到了敬老院。不幸的是，儿子又患肺结核去世。成年后的徐文建，深怀感恩之心，帮她安葬了儿子，经常帮助老人，不时买东西去看望她。11年前，老人不幸遭遇车祸，双腿骨折，行动不便。徐文建和家人商量后，干脆把老人从敬老院接到家中，如同亲人一样精心照顾，平时饭菜递上手，病时衣不解带，直到2014年1月老人去世。

蔡嶙：写在手心上的借条
清朝有一个商人叫蔡嶙，为人处事以诚为本。有一次他想购进一批紧俏货物，但手里的资金不够。他的好朋友知道后，主动借给他钱。他十分感谢朋友的好意，就写了七千两银子的借条。朋友看了借条很不高兴地说：“我看重你的诚信，你给我立字据，这不是羞辱我吗？”随即把借条撕了。借钱立据是常理，但朋友执意要信用不要字据。蔡嶙进退两难。突然，朋友伸出手对蔡嶙说：“你若真要立字据才肯用钱的话，那就写在我手心里吧，这样我会握得更紧，你休想赖账。”蔡嶙听后，既感动又钦佩，随即在朋友的手心里写了借条。之后，蔡嶙握着朋友的手说：“让这借条也印在我的手心里吧。”
事后不久，传来朋友病重身亡的消息。
料理完朋友的后事之后，蔡嶙拿着筹集好的钱去还给朋友的儿子。面对这突如其来的七千两银子，朋友的儿子说什么也不收：“这怎么可能，父亲从来没对我提起过，家里又没有你的借条和你的欠账记录，不会有这事。”蔡嶙说：“当时我购货急需钱，你父亲主动借钱给我时，我是遵照你父亲的意思把借条写在他的手心里。现在他不在了，我怎能辜负他对我的这份诚心呢？”说完就把钱还给了朋友的儿子。
