About the Thoughtless Train Conductor

Dear Mr. Worthington,

One rather annoying aspect of the otherwise satisfactory commuter train service from Lancaster to downtown Manchester is the playing of the radio over the loud speaker system.

This was particularly objectionable this morning on train 610 where riders were subjected to the incessant blaring of ROCK for nearly the entire trip. Evidently whoever calls the stops is unaware that the background noise of his radio accompanies his announcements. Worse yet, he apparently forgets to press his off-switch, and a thousand passengers are forced to hear this clatter.

Noise pollution on city buses is usually confined to an individual carrying a loud radio. Old Smoky Railroad does it on a grand scale. I think it should stop.

同学相互之间谈谈学习的问题蛮好的，但假如消极地看待学习那就不合适了。

课余时间，在我们班的教室里，我曾看到了这样一幕：班里一部分成绩较差的同学聚集在一起抱怨学习太累，他们真的算是“同病相怜”了。甲生发牢骚：“作业多兮多！我想啊，有些作业该不用上交吧，所以我就不做，结果一样都要交，我好累呀！真想一生一世不用做作业。”乙生也大发牢骚：“我厌烦极了，每天都要上那么多节课，一上课就想睡觉。如果上课和下课时间换一下该多好呀！”丙生说得更狠：“老师每天把我留那么迟，呜呜……学习好辛苦，我真想什么时候找个机会停学！”

我看到这一幕，不禁对他们仨有些怜悯之情。可是转而一想，他们和其他同学一样，大家上同样多的课，做同等量的作业。为什么其他同学没有一丝抱怨，为什么会造成这么明显的“两极分化”呢？我总结出来两个字：厌学。因为厌学导致他们仨上课不认真听，上课不认真听导致作业不认真做，由此交不出作业，成绩落后……反正什么都弄不好，这就是恶性循环。那为什么有些同学学得那么好呢？因为他们把学习当成了快乐的事，上课认真听讲，回家保质保量完成作业，老师理所当然满意……这样学得既轻松，又越来越好。这就是良性循环。

我正忖量之时，一名中等生过来了，他曾经也是个差生，但现在已“改头换面”了，他把自己的“非凡经历”说了出来：“我在以前也是不想学习的，妈妈恨铁不成钢，便干脆让我玩了一天的电脑，可我很快玩腻了，一下子就想通了，原来没有比学习更快乐的事。”几个差生听了顿时陷入反思之中。

是啊，应该少一点抱怨。我的内心发出了无限的感慨。我暗暗决心要做一名好学生，做一名快乐的大孩子。
