The great question is who should benefit from the analysis of all the data that our lives now generate. Privacy law builds on the concept of damage to an individual from identifiable knowledge about them. That misses the way the surveillance economy works. The data of an individual there gains its value only when it is compared with the data of countless millions more.

The use of privacy law to curb the tech giants in this instance feels slightly maladapted. This practice does not address the real worry. It is not enough to say that the algorithms DeepMind develops will benefit patients and save lives. What matters is that they will belong to a private monopoly which developed them using public resources. If software promises to save lives on the scale that dugs now can, big data may be expected to behave as a big pharm has done. 一进公园大门，就看见了高大的飞英塔，壮观而又雄伟。外层是木塔，有七层，每一层有八个角，每个角上都挂着一个精致的'铃铛。每当风儿吹过，铃铛就会发出叮叮当当的声音，非常好听。里面是石塔，共有五层，每一层上都刻着千姿百态的佛像，栩栩如生。这就是湖州有名的三绝之一——“塔里塔”。

塔边有一棵非常粗壮的银杏树，枝繁叶茂，就像一把巨大的伞，据说已有600多岁了。在我眼中，他就像是一位忠诚的卫士，日夜不停地守护着宝塔。嫩绿的小草已从大地妈妈的怀抱里探出脑袋，欣喜地瞧着这个春意盎然的世界。不少花儿也已展开了花瓣，为春天增添了许多生机。
