九日山下的丰州，是原泉州清源郡的治所，现为南安县的一个小镇，离泉州城区约九公里。镇南金鸡溪(晋江上游)畔的九日山，是旧时州府船舶司“祭天祈风”(祷告出海船舶一帆风顺、一路顺风，兼风平浪静、风调雨顺之意)的地方。中学时代则是我们远足、野炊(现称露营、烧烤)的首选所在，当年荒山上除了东、西、北三峰，那些模糊不清的“摩崖石刻”外，寺庙道观全没了。现在山脚下的延福寺重建了，而且富丽堂皇;西台(又名高士峰，据说是唐代诗人秦系隐居于此)的顶峰也发现了一尊高4.5米，宽1.5米，袒胸盘坐莲花的佛像石刻，今筑有硬山式屋顶的石亭一座。经考证是五代十国时期陈洪进首倡刻就的石佛造像，西峰始称石佛山;东峰或称东台，也“挖掘”出唐代一位叫姜公辅的宰相，相传是贬谪泉州，曾一度浪迹山林，不知所终，这里一度被叫做姜相峰。又因形似麒麟，俗称麒麟山;北峰也叫北台，连接东西两峰，山峦叠翠，空谷幽泉，俗称白云坞，遗有一处菩萨泉古迹。

由此我想起了陶渊明的“采菊东篱下，悠然见南山”的隐逸、“登东坳以舒啸，临清流而赋诗”的洒脱、“阮籍醒日少，陶潜醉日多”(孟浩然语)的沉醉、“菊花知我心，九月九日开。客人知我意，重阳一日来”的陶然，以及令人神往的不朽诗篇《归去来兮辞》、《桃花源记》，构成了一卷“陶渊明特色”的田园风情图。

重阳节的起源，最早可以推到汉初。据说，在皇宫中，每年九月九日，都要佩茱萸，食蓬饵、饮菊花酒，以求长寿;汉高祖刘邦的爱妃戚夫人被吕后惨害后，宫女贾某也被逐出宫，将这一习俗传入民间的。
古代，民间在该日有登高的风俗，所以重阳节又叫“登高节”。相传此风俗始于东汉。唐人登高诗很多，大多数是写重阳节的习俗;杜甫的七律《登高》，就是写重阳登高的名篇。登高所到之处，没有划一的规定，一般是登高山、登高塔。还有吃“重阳糕”的习俗。讲究的重阳糕要作成九层，像座宝塔，上面还作成两只小羊，以符合重阳(羊)之义。有的还在重阳糕上插一小红纸旗，并点蜡烛灯。这大概是用“点灯”、“吃糕”代替“登高”，用小红纸旗代替茱萸。
