“你如果要体会什么是沮丧，你就在春节前后到北京或广州的火车站去看看。一张张怆惶的脸在人群中涌动。你这时才知道了一个民族的伤口在哪里。”刚分到国家计生委的研究生小M对几位作家这样描述。他工作的国家计生委在二十年中使中国少生了5个亿，这个数字推迟了灾难降临中国大陆。但他们要忍受很多来自国际上的谴责以及国内的不理解、甚至基层工作人员被暴力侵害。而且这个单位一直被忽视……

人口灾难是否会降临，我们不得而知。我们只知道未来一个世纪中国大陆最大的问题(比环境、****、经济、教育更严峻)是人口问题。

大陆老农穷贫到极点却不忘生孩子

“你猜我们家的保姆家里有几个小孩，你保准猜不着，她兄弟姐妹9个。”女作家项小米对我叹道：“太可怕了!他们陕西那什么县，普遍如此，都是七八个孩子。没活干，没田种，树全砍秃了，地慢慢变成沙漠，这些人要吃饭，就都跑到城里。把城里弄的脏乱差，犯罪率激升。就冲这我也要把我女儿送到美国……”

记者在近一两年中发现，这种一家生五六个、七八个的现象在大陆许多地方

记者几年前到国家贫困县山西大宁采访扶贫款被贪污案时，曾到一个家徒四壁的山民家里走访，这家主人，一个四五十岁的低矮老农，连遭不幸，不仅被干部用他的名字领扶贫款，却分文没给他，最小的男孩子还被山草中的蛇咬伤，性命垂危。当我们走进他山坳中的窑洞时，他哭了起来，我们力所能及地给了他一点资助，他扑通跪在地上以表感激。当知道他有多少孩子时，我们几个人都大吃一惊，八个。

这完全出乎我们的意料，多年来计划生育大好形势的宣传，使我们觉得农村最多能生两个，即使那些一味抗法、被扒屋毁灶的人，也只能有三到四个孩子。

而八个是什么数字?那是比1949年前还多的一个数字。也可能这些家庭比起1949年前，住房改善不大、食物够吃了但质量没好多少，但抗生素等类药品的普及确实使死婴现象少多了。1949年以前，一个农民家庭也能生很多孩子，但最终成活的只有一半强。所以虽然现在有计划生育的约束，农村人口还是猛增。

记者到陕西靖边采访时，发现那里的农民虽然被各种杂税弄得苦不堪言，而且土地日益干旱和荒漠化，生活很艰难，同样也生很多孩子。一个家庭有四五个孩子是很普通的，甚至是数量最少的。

一位女记者在山西大宁县一个很穷的山村金疙瘩村采访时，发现那里农民平均六个孩子。一个五六岁的小女孩告诉她，她有四个哥哥和一个妹妹。有人指着另一个红衣女孩说：“这孩子的父亲弟兄三个，每个都有六个孩子。”女记者了解到，金疙瘩村几乎没有三胎的，大多是五、六胎，最多的一家七胎，且大部分家中有二、三个男孩。

2、人口素质偏低。人口素质是指人们在社会活动中表现出来的在思想道德、文化技术、个性心理与身体健康等方面的综合发展的水平。尽管大陆政府采取了一系列政策措施，使人口素质得到不断提高，但人口总体素质仍然较差。据年1 %人口抽样调查资料显示，我国人均受教育年限只有7. 8 年，尚未达到初中毕业年限;15 岁以上人口中的`成人文盲率达到11. 04 %。另一方面还有人口的身体素质不高，据年人口普查统计，我国约有6000 多万残疾人，占全国总人口的4. 9 % 。

3、人口出生性别比偏高。20 世纪80 年代以前，我国出生性别比基本上属于正常范围，其出生性别比通常波动在102 -107 之间。但自80 年代以来，出生性别比明显升高，1982 年第三次人口普查的出生婴儿性别比为108. 5 ,比例偏高现象初显端倪，1990 年第四次人口普查时上升到111. 3 ，而2000 年第五次人口普查已达到116. 9 ,个别地方甚至达到135. 6 ,远远高于国际社会可以容忍的107 的最高警戒线。这和我国的传统思想有一定的关系。老一辈的人都讲究传宗接代，差不多都重男轻女。这一思想让男女出生人数严重不等，导致性别比偏高。

6、就业压力大。大量的人口让就业压力增大，农村大量剩余劳动力涌入城市，由于没文化，他们干的大多都是最苦最累最危险的活，而且工作时间长，工资也低，大多只能扶生活，还存在工资拖欠，日复一日，年复一年，农民工问题还是没解决。目前就我们当代大学生的就业形势也是非常严峻的，每年都有许多大学生面临失业。找工作难成了社会一大问题，这和人口总数多，人口素质偏低是分不开的。
