Why aren't we tired of something so fanciful, so unrealistic, and, I would say, so unimaginative? How can a story like that endure generations of repetition`? Because, I think, it is a typical success story. It is highly philosophical and symbolic. By implication, we see a 4-step definition of success: 1 ) a goal to be set. as represented by the beautiful princess; 2 ) challenges to be met, as represented by the three tasks; 3 ) the process of surmounting difficulties, as represented by the ordeals the youth goes through; and 4 ) the reward of success, as represented by the happy marriage.
The story not only caters to everyone's inward yearning for success, but also emphasizes the inseparability of the process and the result. The reward of success will be much amplified if the path leading towards it is treacherous, and vice versa. If a person inherits his father's millions and leads an easy life, he is not a successful person even in material terms, because there are no difficulties involved in his achieving affluence. The term “success”, to be sure. will not sit still for easy definition. But as I understand it, the true meaning of success entails a combination of both the process and the satisfactory result of an endeavor. To clarify my view, let me give another analogy.
If we changed the rules of football, greatly enlarged the goal and sent away David Seaman or any other goal keeper, so that another David, namely David Beckham, could score easily, then scoring would not give him the thrill of accomplishment and the joy that it brings. If we further changed the rules by not allowing Arsenal's defenders to defend, so that Beckham needed only to lift a finger, actually a toe, to score, then there would be no game at all, because the meaning of winning would have disappeared. In accepting the challenge, in surmounting the difficulties and in enduring the hardship, success acquires its value. The sense of attainment varies in proportion to the degree of difficulties on overcomes.
The concept of success is not constant but relative because the nature of difficulty is also relative. Something you do effortlessly might pose a great difficulty for a handicapped person. In acquiring the ability to do the same as you can, he or she achieve success. That's why we greatly admire Stephen Hawking, because, though confined to a wheel chair, he has contributed greatly to the field of science.
I myself, a rather shy person by nature who easily suffer from stage fright, had to pluck up great courage to take part in a speech contest like this. I could have stayed away and had an easy time of it by not entering the university level contest.But I chose to accept the challenge and to face the difficulties. Now here I am. If I come out first, it will be a great success for me. If I come out last-I hope this will not be the case-but if I come out last, I will not call my attempt a failure, but will also celebrate it as a true success, because part of my goal is my own character training-to do more assertive, to be brave in face of difficulties. For me, it is a meaningful step forward, small as it is, in the long journey toward the final success in my life, because I have truly gained by participating.
Let us return to our handsome young prince and the 4-step definition of success. You my have noticed that the usual worldly criteria of wealth, position and fame were not mentioned as part of the story, but rather, it emphasized the process of overcoming difficulties. The ancient wisdom had already defined the meaning of success, and this is my definition, too.

篇13：英语新课程之我见

纵观几年来的教育改革，正在不断地深入和发展，全国各地关于新课程改革的实践和探索呈现方兴未艾之势。无论从教育思想观念的转变到素质教育的进一步探索，还是从教材内容的革新到教学法的改进，中小学英语教育领域呈现“百花齐放，百家争鸣”的新气象。拿教材来说，目前我省初中阶段有些地区使用的是人教版教材，有些使用的是译林版教材。牛津版初中英语教材9月才刚刚投入使用，初三的牛津版教材也刚刚出来。但去年9月全省高中已经统一使用牛津大学出版社和江苏译林出版社合作编写的牛津版高中英语新教材。不同的学习阶段使用了不同版本的教材，就出现了词汇的不衔接、教材体系的不衔接、教学方法和学习方法的不衔接等问题。再加上大多数初中、高中分开办学，教师不可能实现从初一到高三的大循环教学，初中和高中教师彼此不熟悉对方的教材情况及教学情况，使得衔接问题的困难进一步提高。
作为奋战在教学第一线英语教师，在学习新课程理念的背景下，笔者对此问题深有感触，本文试图从以下五个方面对译林版初中英语和牛津版高中英语的衔接问题谈一些肤浅的看法及相应对策。
1．词汇的衔接
不同版本的教材一般都是按照“话题-功能-结构-情景-任务”的体系编排的，语法体系大同小异，差别主要在词汇上。去年9月江苏全省推行的牛津高一英语教材生词的标注是以人教版初中英语教材中2063个单词为基础的，对于初中阶段使用译林版教材的学生来说，这其中约有650个单词和短语没有学过，但在牛津英语高一新教材中没有标注为生词。就第一模块Unit 1为例，单词表上共出现了66个生词和词组，而这些单词和词组只出现在本单元的阅读文章和语篇练习中 ，并不包括指示语、讲解文字以及整个Word power版块中出现的生词。据笔者粗略估计，除单词表上的生词，第一单元还有百来个生词。此外，一个单元下来，需要学生掌握的词组也有一百多个。在新课程的指导思想下，教学活动设计遵循以学生发展为本的理念，激发学生的学习兴趣，帮助学生按照 个人的能力、潜力、兴趣和未来发展目标，灵活开展学习，发展个性，培养创新能力。所以就很有必要了解学生已有的词汇基础，补充这些不同版本之间差异的词汇，为学生的下一步个性发展顺利发展打下坚实的基础。
有的学校采用在高一开学初集中一段时间专门学习的方式，笔者以为不妥。因为新教材本来容量就大，任务繁重，教学时间就比较紧。如果专门用几个星期甚至一个月的时间学习单词，势必对新课程的学习产生影响，并严重影响教学进度。况且，即使短期内一下子记住了这么多单词，很快也会忘记，效果并不好。我校采取的方法是：首先，在教授新课的过程中，结合新教材内容注意补充这些词汇。笔者要求学生每人准备一本小本子，专门记录在教材中出现的以及在身边出现的英语生词，随时翻阅。做到从“眼熟”到“熟记于心”。其次，在语篇有意义的情景中学习单词，容易激发学生的兴趣，避免了单调枯燥的死记硬背，效果比较好。例如，在第一模块 Unit 1之Word power的教学过程中，笔者就让学生走出课堂，走进校园。根据教材上的内容，结合学校实际情况，让学生为其他学生指路。这样不仅让高一新生更加熟悉学校的设施和环境，也让学生认识到学习英语的实用性，更加激发了学生学习英语的兴趣。第三，介绍一些构词的基本知识，有利于学生自然而然地扩大词汇。第四，适时地把这些词汇分类集中打印给学生，让学生在早晚读课上专门强化记忆，并进行检测。第五，在创造性的运用中巩固，要求学生运用这些生词编写富有情境的句子、写日记，做到词不离句，句不离篇。例如：运用奇特联想记忆法编造句子：The boy lied that the egg laid on the table was laid by him.（那个男孩撒谎说，放在桌上的鸡蛋是他下的。）此句出现了学生很容易混淆的lie以及 lay的过去式和过去分词。第六，运用多媒体软件让学生在游戏中愉快地巩固词汇。例如《洪恩初中英语同步课堂》中的单词赛车、《金山词霸》中的单词闯关游戏都深受学生喜欢。
2．教材体系的衔接
牛津高中英语新教材每个单元都由Welcome to the unit, Reading, Word power, Grammar and usage, Task, Project和Self-assessment七个板块组成，与以往译林版初中英语教材对比，其明显的特色在于Welcome to the unit, Word power, Task，Project和 Self-assessment这四个部分。
（1）Welcome to the unit（欢迎进入本单元）板块由图画或照片和三个讨论题组成，其主要功能是激活学生与单元话题有关的已有知识，引导学生联系自己的亲身经历进行相关话题的讨论。生动的画面为该板块的语言学习设置了生动的语言情景，能有效地引起学生对话题的兴趣，调动学生的学习积极性。每幅图画都有与画面有关的提示语，以便学生从中获取有关信息；三个讨论题则引导学生开展交流活动，为下一步的学习做热身准备。该板块是学生接受英语信息的重要环节。
（2）Word power （词汇）版块设计的目的是引导学生通过以下两种方法学习词汇。一是让学生学习与单元话题相关的分类词汇，二是通过构词法学习单词。该版块设计了图表、对话或短文，用以拓展学生对与话题有关的词语的认识和运用。学生根据构词法的基本规则学习和掌握单词，可以有效地扩大词汇量。
（3）Task（任务）板块是一个要求学生在课堂内进行的开放式任务型活动的学习内容，设计的主要目的是引导学生在完成任务的过程中使用英语，并以任务的形式，培养学生听、说、读、写的综合技能。该板块以单元话题为主线，让学生在教学活动中用英语参与和完成各种真实而有意义的与生活、学习、工作有关的活动。学生可以通过结对、小组合作或是班级内合作的方式，亲历语言实践，实现其任务目标。“任务型”教学模式正是课程标准所倡导的，它可以有效地避免单纯传授语言知识的教学模式。
（4）Project（课题）板块引导学生进行探究性学习，把英语听、说、读、写的训练从课堂内拓展到课堂外。首先提供与该单元话题有关的具体阅读材料，让学生从中受到启发，引起用英语开展某一活动的兴趣。然后根据所给的具体步骤，通过小组讨论、分工合作、调查访谈、信息检索、交流汇报等形式的活动，用英语去做一件事情，最后呈现学习成果，创造性地完成学习任务，培养综合运用语言的能力。
（5）Self-assessment（自我评价）板块要求学生对该单元的各项学习目标，如阅读、听说、写作、语法、词汇学习、语言运用等，分五级（Not Confident， Slightly Confident， Confident， Quite Confident， Very Confident）逐一进行自我评价。让学生体验自己在英语学习过程中的不断进步与成功，认识自我，建立信心，调控自己的学习策略。并要求学生对自己学习过程中不足的方面提出改进意见，调整学习目标和学习策略，促进自己综合语言运用能力的全面发展。
与人教版高中英语新教材相比，牛津版高中英语教材不仅注重语言技能的训练，同时也注重语言知识的学习，在知识与能力的关系上处理得很好。例如，牛津高中英语教材专门编排了Grammar and usage（语法和惯用法）板块，对语言基础知识教学给予了应有的重视。这在当前教材编写中存在过分强调语言综合运用能力而忽视语言基础知识的趋势下是难能可贵的，可以说是“他人皆醉唯我独醒”。其实，在新课程背景下，“重视能力对，轻视知识错”。那种把知识教学等同于应试教育，把知识教学与能力培养割裂开来甚至对立起来的认识和做法是错误的。这是因为：（一）重视能力不能以轻视知识为基础。倒洗澡水时不能倒掉孩子。（二）课程改革非但不应该轻视知识，而且应当理直气壮增加更多的、各种各样的知识，充实知识的内涵，扩大知识的外延，以适应知识经济时代的生存和发展。（三）英语课程标准也指出：“综合语言运用能力的形成建立在学生语言技能、语言知识、情感态度、学习策略和文化意识等素养整体发展的基础上”，“语言知识是综合语言运用能力的基础”。
对于新教材的这些特色，教师要联系课程改革的最新理念认真加以体会教材编写的意图。Task板块是课程标准倡导的“任务型”教学模式的体现；Project是课堂教学的延伸和拓展，属于探究式学习；Self-assessment是编者用来落实课程标准中“学习策略”这一重要目标的。如果理解不了新教材的奥妙，就会出现“穿新鞋走老路”，“新瓶装陈酒”的现象。例如，有的“知识型”老师总是用教授人教版Warming up的眼光来看待Welcome to the unit这部分, 觉得找不到几个值得讲解的生词和短语，感到无话可说和无从下手，甚至斗胆地把这一部分省去砍掉，直接进入Reading。其实，这部分是激发兴趣，启发思维的，调动学生学习积极性的。例如，牛津英语高一教材第一单元是关于 “School life in the UK”，笔者利用网络资源，运用多媒体向学生直观地展示了英国学校生活的场景，一下子就激发了学生参与讨论的积极性，然后根据三个问题，学生分组讨论，积极发言，开启了思维，为下一步的学习作好了思想上的准备。潜移默化中又拓宽了学生的文化视野，增加了学生对外国文化的了解，这样做有利于发展学生跨文化交际的意识和能力。
3．教的衔接
（1）要选择合适的课堂教学方法
初中学生在课堂上发言往往很积极，课堂气氛活跃；而到了高中，课堂上主动发言的学生不多，课堂气氛沉闷。这固然有学生自身的原因，教师的因素也很重要。初中教师往往重视导入和各环节的呈现，操练形式变化多样，善于运用实物、游戏和竞赛来调动学生的积极注，鼓励学生参与到语言实践中。高中教师由于教学内容繁多，常以自己为中心，自己讲得多，学生练得少，学生经常处于被动接受的地位，久而久之就失去了参与课堂活动的积极性。新课程要求课堂教学应改变以教师为中心“教师带着教材走向学生”的单纯传授书本知识的旧教学模式，变为以学生为中心“教师带着学生走向教材”引导学生主动参与的教学模式。课堂教学大力提倡小组合作教学模式，通过师生互动、生生互动、师生合作等学习方式充分调动所有学生共同参与，积极完成教学任务。
（2）要正确把握教学起点和课堂容量
教学起点应是大部分学生能够达到的，不能盲目拔高；课堂容量也应适度，容量太大学生难以掌握，太少则完成不了学习任务。大部分学生认为，一节课如果内容多，难度大，需要记大量的笔记，听课就很吃力。由此可见，教学起点过高和课堂容量过大是造成学生不适应的主要因素。
（3）要充分做好上课前的准备工作
新教材的内容涉及面很广，知识多，词汇量大，对所有教师来说都是很大的挑战。在课堂上更是会出现意想不到的突发情况。如何控制课堂，如何上好每一节课，就要求所有教师在上课前做好充分的准备，不怕烦，不怕累，搜集并利用书籍及网络资源。
4．学的衔接
（1）对学生进行必要的学习方法的指导
从现实来看、大部分初中学生的学习自主性较差，自学能力较弱。进入高中后，有些学生仍然沿用初中时的学习方式，教师说什么才做什么。而教师则认为，高中学生应该懂得自己读书学习了，因而放松了对学生的严格要求和学习方法的指导，致使一些学生成绩下降。高中英语教学中做好学法指导十分重要，要指导学生预习、听课、记笔记、完成作业、及时复习总结的方法。
（2）对学生进行学习动力的培养
学习的动力包括学习动机、兴趣、毅力和情绪等。教师应当开展形式多样的教学活动，使学生对英语产生浓厚的兴趣。正确引导，使学生认识学习外语的意义，充分调动学生的主观能动性，培养学生克服困难的信心和毅力，帮助学生树立学好外语的信心。
5．情感的衔接
当前正在进行的基础教育课程改革的一个重要方面是关注学生情感态度的发展。对学生情感态度的培养已经被列为基础教育课程改革中英语课程教学目标之一：“《牛津高中英语》重视培养学生积极的学习态度和健全的情感，帮助学生发展与他人沟通和合作的能力，提高独立思考与判断的能力，逐步形成正确的人生观、世界观和价值观，增强社会责任感。”
高一新生大都初次离家在外读书，学习上有压力，生活上不适应，免不了心理上的紧张和焦虑。常言道：“在家靠父母，出外靠朋友”，因此，教师对他们要给予格外地关心和爱护，教师要尊重和公平对待每一位学生，尤其要善待差生。当学生在课堂上答错时教师给予的一个宽容的微笑，缺乏自信时一个鼓励的目光，生病时一次细心的照料，遇到困难时一次热情的帮助，迷茫时一次心灵的沟通……通过种种方式和途径构建和谐的师生关系--如朋友、如兄弟、如姐妹、如父子、如母女。学生一旦跟老师有了感情，就会把对教师的喜爱情感迁移到教师所讲授的课程上来，形成积极的学习态度，从而在情感方面实现初高中的顺利衔接。
另外，教师还可以根据教材，对学生的人生观、世界观和价值观进行潜移默化的指导。例如，模块一Unit 2的话题是Growing pains（成长的烦恼），教师可以让学生通过对教材的讨论了解和父母相处的正确的方法。
笔者提供本文，旨在抛砖引玉，希望更多同行能够一起探索初高中英语衔接问题的对策，以推动中学英语教学质量的不断提高，全面落实“知识和能力统一、过程与方法统一、情感态度与价值观统一”的三维新课程理念，培养具有创新能力和实践能力的二十一世纪人才。

作为90后的我们总是喜欢回忆，回忆儿童时代的快乐时光，几个亲密的伙伴在一起嬉戏打闹，一会哭一会笑，真是有趣。现在觉得那是确实有点幼稚，但却十分美好，无忧无虑，不必想除了玩了之外的任何事情，可惜现在已经不复存在了。
作为90后的我们，也总是喜欢幻想，幻想着与自己的另一半坐在海滩上，吹着海风依偎在一起，欣赏夕阳下的美景，那是何等的浪漫啊！

他说，你永远不要盯着你做一件事情能赚多少钱.你要树立一个目标.当然，是指你决定终生为之奋斗的目标.这个目标的初衷是，你希望通过这个目标，来改变世人的生活.让世人生活的更好.如果你做到了，你就成功了.我非常认同这个观点.一个人对于世界正面的积极的影响力有多大，就说明他就有多成功。
这些年,从事网络方面的工作。对网络方面的成长，可以说历历在目.,阿里巴巴年成立。经历。已经是一家大型的成功的公司.他改变了中国3000万小企业做生意的方式.成立的淘宝,改变了很多中国人购物的方式,让几百万中国大学生,有饭吃.这是一个多么伟大的成就;世纪佳缘,经过段段的5年发展，已经成功未婚男女找到了归宿.等等。这些网站，都是非常成功的。他们之所有成功，是因为他们改变了人的生活.让人的生活因为有它更精彩.

By implication, we see a 4-step definition of success: 1 ) a goal to be set. as represented by the beautiful princess; 2 ) challenges to be met, as represented by the three tasks; 3 ) the process of surmounting difficulties, as represented by the ordeals the youth goes through; and 4 ) the reward of success, as represented by the happy marriage.
The story not only caters to everyone's inward yearning for success, but also emphasizes the inseparability of the process and the result. The reward of success will be much amplified if the path leading towards it is treacherous, and vice versa. If a person inherits his father's millions and leads an easy life, he is not a successful person even in material terms, because there are no difficulties involved in his achieving affluence. The term ”success", to be sure. will not sit still for easy definition. But as I understand it, the true meaning of success entails a combination of both the process and the satisfactory result of an endeavor. To clarify my view, let me give another analogy.
If we changed the rules of football, greatly enlarged the goal and sent away David Seaman or any other goal keeper, so that another David, namely David Beckham, could score easily, then scoring would not give him the thrill of accomplishment and the joy that it brings. If we further changed the rules by not allowing Arsenal's defenders to defend, so that Beckham needed only to lift a finger, actually a toe, to score, then there would be no game at all, because the meaning of winning would have disappeared. In accepting the challenge, in surmounting the difficulties and in enduring the hardship, success acquires its value. The sense of attainment varies in proportion to the degree of difficulties on overcomes.
