篇3:中秋节英文作文

The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, usually in October in Gregorian calendar.

The festival has a long history. In ancient China, emperors followed the rite of offering sacrifices to the sun in spring and to the moon in autumn. Historical books of the Zhou Dynasty had had the word “Mid-Autumn”. Later aristocrats and literary figures helped expand the ceremony to common people. They enjoyed the full, bright moon on that day, worshipped it and expressed their thoughts and feelings under it. By the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the Mid-Autumn Festival had been fixed, which became even grander in the Song Dynasty (960-1279). In the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, it grew to be a major festival of China.

Folklore about the origin of the festival go like this: In remote antiquity, there were ten suns rising in the sky, which scorched all crops and drove people into dire poverty. A hero named Hou Yi was much worried about this, he ascended to the top of the Kunlun Mountain and, directing his superhuman strength to full extent, drew his extraordinary bow and shot down the nine superfluous suns one after another. He also ordered the last sun to rise and set according to time. For this reason, he was respected and loved by the people and lots of people of ideals and integrity came to him to learn martial arts from him. A person named Peng Meng lurked in them.

篇5:中秋节英文作文

首先,我想说说月饼。我喜欢吃月饼,因为我希望以后能成为一名飞行员。中秋节那天,月亮又大又圆,就像美丽的盘子挂在蓝色的衣服上一样。

I think Mid-Autumn Day is an old traditional festival in China. Everybody likes it because it's a family get-together. You see it is called“Mid-Autumn Day”,so it often comes in September or October. It is on the 15th of the 8th of the lunar month. Now, let's say something about this interesting festival.

Firstly, I'd like to say something about the moon. I like it very much because I want to be an astronaut in the future. That day the moon is round, big, just like a beautiful plate hanging on the blue cloth. When I see the moon, I will remember the ancient mythsthe godess Chang Er and her little rabbit are playing under the tree which Wu Gang grows. I will also think about Armstrong's first moonwalk. I will also miss the friends in Tai-wan island, in Macao and Chinese people who are abroad. I know they are missing us very much, too.

Secondly, I'11 say something about the tradition on Mid-Autumn Day. Look! There's a big tree in a garden of a Chinese fami-ly. All the family members are sitting around a big table under the tree in the open air. They are eating the mooncakes and admiring the full moon in the sky. That is a family reunion dinner. The mooncakes and the moon represent the love from a family. I think this is one of the most valuable things in the world.

Thirdly,it is a very good opportunity to make three wishes on Mid-Autumn Day. My wishes are: the first, I, an astronaut in the future, would like to go to the moon one day, and stay with the sky and stars; the second, I hope every person in the world will stay with family, share love from the family forever; the third, I hope everybody's dream will come true.

That is the Mid-Autumn Day in my mind. I will always re-member: East or West, home is best.

中秋节的英语作文

In China, Mid-autumn Day is considered to be a symbol of family reunion. On this day, all the family members gather together at home to celebrate this special occasion. Last year, I could not celebrate the festival with my family because I was in university. However, this special day left a deep impression on me.

I still remember the atmosphere of that evening. All the students who could not go back home assembled in our classroom, having a party to celebrate this traditional festival. We tried our best to show our own enthusiasm. As an ethnic minority, I performed a peacock dance, which received warm applause. After the two-hour party, we went out to the playground and sat together to appreciate the moon because it is a tradition on Mid-autumn Day. We ate moon cakes, played cards, and listened to romantic poems recited by one of our classmates. In that harmonious atmosphere, nobody felt lonely or homesick even though we were far away from our homes.

Thanks to our classmates, I experienced such a colorful and interesting Mid-autumn Day at my university. Thus, I learned to value all the festivals I spent during my university life.

I think Mid-Autumn Day is an old traditional festival in Chi-na.

Everybody likes it because it's a family get-together.

You see>it is called“Mid-Autumn Day”, so it often comes in September or October.

It is on the 15th of the 8th of the lunar month.

Now, let's say something about this interesting festival.

中秋节风俗习惯英文作文二:

Mooncakes are to Mid-Autumn Festival what mince pies are to Christmas.

The seasonal round cakes traditionally have a sweet filling of lotus seed paste or red bean paste and often have one or more salted duck eggs in the center to represent the moon.

And the moon is what this celebration is all about.

Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th month,it is the time when the moon is said to be at its brightest and fullest.

There are two legends which claim to explain the tradition of eating mooncakes.

One Tang Dynasty myth holds that the Earth once had 10 suns circling it.

One day all 10 suns appeared at once, scorching the planet with their heat.

It was thanks to a skillful archer named Hou Yi that the Earth was saved.

He shot down all but one of the suns.

As his reward, the Heavenly Queen Mother gave Hou Yi the Elixir of Immortality, but she warned him that he must use it wisely.

Hou Yi ignored her advice and, corrupted by fame and fortune, became a tyrannical leader.

Chang-Er,his beautiful wife, could no longer stand by and watch him abuse his power so she stole his Elixir and fled to the moon to escape his angry wrath.

And thus began the legend of the beautiful woman in the moon, the Moon Fairy.

The second legend has it that during the Yuan Dynasty,an underground group led by Zhu Yuan Zang was determined to rid the country of Mongolian dominance.

The moon cake was created to carry a secret message.

When the cake was opened and the message read,an uprising was unleashed which successfully routed the Mongolians.

It happened at the time of the full moon, which, some say, explains why mooncakes are eaten at this time.

Mooncakes are usually stamped with Chinese characters indicating the name of the bakery and the type of filling used.

Some bakeries will even stamp them with your family name so that you can give personalised ones to friends and family.

They are usually presented in boxes of four which indicate the four phases of the moon.

Traditional mooncakes are made with melted lard, but today vegetable oil is more often used in the interests of health.

Mooncakes are not for the diet-conscious as they are loaded with calories.

The best way to wash down one of these sticky cakes is with a cup of Chinese tea,

especially Jasmine or Chrysanthemum tea, which aids the digestion.

中秋节风俗习惯英文作文三:

The joyous Mid-Autumn Festival was celebrated on the fifteenth day of the eighth moon, around the time of the autumn equinox(秋分).

Many referred to it simply as the “Fifteenth of the Eighth Moon”.

This day was also considered as a harvest festival since fruits, vegetables and grain had been harvested by this time and food was abundant.

Food offerings were placed on an altar set up in the courtyard.

Apples, pears, peaches, grapes, pomegranates(石榴), melons, oranges and pomelos(柚子) might be seen.

Special foods for the festival included moon cakes, cooked taro(芋头)and water caltrope(菱角), a type of water chestnut resembling black buffalo horns.

Some people insisted that cooked taro be included because at the time of creation, taro was the first food discovered at night in the moonlight.

Of all these foods, it could not be omitted from the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The round moon cakes, measuring about three inches in diameter and one and a half inches in thickness, resembled Western fruitcakes in taste and consistency.

These cakes were made with melon seeds(西瓜子), lotus seeds(莲籽), almonds(杏仁), minced meats, bean paste, orange peels and lard(猪油).

A golden yolk(蛋黄) from a salted duck egg was placed at the center of each cake, and the golden brown crust was decorated with symbols of the festival.

Traditionally, thirteen moon cakes were piled in a pyramid to symbolize the thirteen moons of a “complete year,” that is, twelve moons plus one intercalary(闰月的) moon.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional festivity for both the Han and minority nationalities.

The custom of worshipping the moon can be traced back as far as the ancient Xia and Shang Dynasties ( B.C.-1066 B.C.).

In the Zhou Dynasty(1066 B.C.-221 B.C.), people hold ceremonies to greet winter and worship the moon whenever the Mid-Autumn Festival sets in.

It becomes very prevalent in the Tang Dynasty(618-907 A.D.) that people enjoy and worship the full moon.

In the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279 A.D.), however, people send round moon cakes to their relatives as gifts in expression of their best wishes of family reunion.

When it becomes dark, they look up at the full silver moon or go sightseeing on lakes to celebrate the festival.

Since the Ming (1368-1644 A.D.) and Qing Dynasties (1644-1911A.D.), the custom of Mid-Autumn Festival celebration becomes unprecedented popular.

Together with the celebration there appear some special customs in different parts of the country, such as burning incense(熏香), planting Mid-Autumn trees, lighting lanterns on towers and fire dragon dances.

However, the custom of playing under the moon is not so popular as it used to be nowadays, but it is not less popular to enjoy the bright silver moon.

Whenever the festival sets in, people will look up at the full silver moon, drinking wine to celebrate their happy life or thinking of their relatives and friends far from home, and extending all of their best wishes to them.

Moon Cakes月饼

There is this story about the moon-cake.

during the Yuan dynasty (A.D.1280-1368) China was ruled by the Mongolian people.

Leaders from the preceding Sung dynasty (A.D.960-1280) were unhappy at submitting to the foreign rule, and set how to coordinate the rebellion without being discovered.

The leaders of the rebellion, knowing that the Moon Festival was drawing near, ordered the making of special cakes.

Backed into each moon cake was a message with the outline of the attack.

On the night of the Moon Festival, the rebels successfully attached and overthrew the government.

Today, moon cakes are eaten to commemorate this legend and was called the Moon Cake.

For generations, moon cakes have been made with sweet fillings of nuts, mashed red beans, lotus-seed paste or Chinese dates(枣子), wrapped in a pastry.

Sometimes a cooked egg yolk can be found in the middle of the rich tasting dessert.

People compare moon cakes to the plum pudding and fruit cakes which are served in the English holiday seasons.

Now the moon is not the same as the original moon, the original is like a big white jade plate, hanging in the sky; Now it is yellow and round, but dad said, “although the moon is round today, tomorrow's moon will be more round.” One sentence is “fifteen moon sixteen round” said that is this.

This is the story of chang 'e moon. When I finished, my mother praised me and thought I was good, and I was proud that I could tell my mother a story!

I thought of my grandpa again: he didn't even eat the corn when he was a child!
