When I was young,I always dreamed that I lived in a beautiful country. There were many flowers and trees around our city.We could hear the birds singing and see the children dancing. The streets were clear and the the air was very fresh! How nice it was! As is known to all , we have a beautiful world .we can see the sun shining. we can see the moon in a full view. we can see the birds flying in the sky. we can see the horses running on the plain. But that only was a dream of mine! The world is not as beautiul as before, for human beings have brought a disaster to the world.How I wish that it would be come true! So I think we should do something to protect our environment.
However, there are still many problems of environmental protection in recent years. One of the most serious problems is the serious pollution of air, water and soil. the polluted air does great harm to people’s health. The polluted water causes diseases and death. What is more, vegetation had been greatly reduced with the rapid growth of modern cities.On the one hand, the environment pollution and destruction are getting worse and worse in the modern world. On the other hand, the lack of knowledge about the importance of protecting environment hinders the solving of the problem. In a word, there is a long way to go before we enjoy a clean and comfortable world.
To protect the environment, governments of many countries have done a lot. Legislative steps have been introduced to control air pollution, to protect the forest and sea resources and to stop any environmental pollution. Therefore, governments are playing the most important role in the environmental protection today.
In my opinion, to protect environment, the government must take even more concrete measures. First, it should let people fully realize the importance of environmental protection through education. Second, much more efforts should be made to put the population planning policy into practice, because more people means more pollution. Finally, those who destroy the environment intentionally should be severely punished. We should let them know that destroying environment means destroying mankind themselves.

Sometimes we become complacent when it comes to recycling, but when you speak in terms of actual facts and figures that everybody can understand, people become much clearer about the problem.
We, as school students, can also join in recycling activities to protect the environment. For example, our class set up a recycling center beside the back door, it is very useful. It is used to collect the waste paper and plastic bottles. In the past, our classmates used to throw all of these into the trashcan. At the very beginning of this collecting activity, it was not so warm-welcomed. Later, more and more people were influenced by the others and joined this collecting activity. Gradually, all the students in our class form a good habit to protect the environment. All of us will now put away the reusable things instead of throwing them into the trashcan.

Some people believe that economic development should never be at the cost of the environment. They think the present serious environmental problems are largely caused by rapideconomic development. For example, land resources are shrinking because of the industrial development and the expansion of cities. 给大家讲一个小故事吧！前几年的时候，我们家养了一只小白兔，这只小白兔很聪明，也很懂事。我奶奶从来不关住它，因为它像狗狗一样的聪明，自己出去玩耍，到点时自己会准时回家。但是有一天，从山上来了一只不速之客，由于山上曾经被火烧过一次，所以很多小动物都跑到山下来了，时常面临着被抓的危险。而这位不速之客就是一只小野兔，它就在我家外面的一个小草堆里和我家的小白兔约会，就这样我家的小白兔越来越不想回家了。有好几次都没有回来，因为它和那只小野兔相聚了，再也舍不得回来了，但是后来它还是回来了，因为养它长大的是我的奶奶。大家猜一猜我想在这个小故事中表达什么呢？我时常在想，这么一个小的瘦弱的生命都懂得感恩，也懂得珍惜友情。虽然它只是一个比较低等的动物，但是它却对这个世界有着感情，对人类有着感情。而作为人类的我们，为什么不为它们多多着想，为什么要破坏它们的生活环境，为什么要逼他们逃离自己的家乡呢！

大家都知道，我们生活在美丽的地球上，这里有山有水，是我们赖以生存的家园，所以保护好地球的环境，是每一个人的责任，破坏环境就等同于在破坏自己的未来。在以前的一些书籍上面，我们经常可以看到作者对天空、河流的描绘，那时候的天空还是蔚蓝的，河流还是清澈的，可随着社会的发展和进步，我们可以发现，能见到蓝天的几率越来越小了，河流甚至是海洋都充满了人类制造的垃圾，这不禁让我们开始反思起了自己，为什么越环境的污染会随着社会的进步变得越来越严重呢？
其实，这都是由于咱们的环保意识太浅薄了，许多人为了谋取自身利益而选择了破坏掉环境，他们只顾着眼前的收获，不去考虑他们的所作所为会对未来造成什么样的影响，所以我们能在电视上看到大批的.树木被砍伐、滚滚黑烟直接向天空排放、污水不经任何处理直接排到河流中……这一切加剧了环境的恶化，虽然有着越来越多的人开始呼吁保护环境了，但是这还不够，环保绝对不是少数人的责任，它应该发芽在每一个人的心中，也只有大多数人都开始保护环境后，我们的世界才能重新焕发生机。
所以，大家要谨记“保护环境，从我做起”的道理，将整个理念传给你的朋友、你的家人乃至你的后代，这样才能给未来留下一个美好的希望。现在，我们就可以开始做一些环保的事情了，例如不随手乱丢垃圾、不去破坏花草等等，再比如现在不是流行起了垃圾分类嘛，咱们就可以多多去学习这方面的知识，然后再给自己的亲朋好友进行普及，争取让大家都认识到保护环境的重要性。最后，希望大家都能从我做起，把保护环境作为自己的任务，不要过了这段时间后就没有了兴趣了，这和学习的道理是一样的，只要生命不息，那就需要我们一直坚持下去。
