1、不可虎头蛇尾、草草收兵
演讲的结尾要有一定的高度，要尽量将全文的内容升华到新的层次，既能照应开头，总结全篇，又要突出重点，深化主旨，要给听众留下完整而深刻的印象。有的演讲者在演讲中，一开始东拉西扯，海阔天空，不着边际，临近结尾时，不作强调，不作必要的概括，就匆匆忙忙结束，草率收兵，使演讲失掉了应有的光彩。这种结尾是应该避免的。
2、不可画蛇添足、节外生枝
演讲结尾要出人意料，耐人寻味，而绝不应平庸无奇，画蛇添足。要讲究内容的含蓄、深沉，使人觉得余音绕梁，不绝于耳。演讲结尾该断时，必须断，切忌节外生枝。有些演讲者，该讲的话明明讲完了，听众听上去似乎已经结尾了，但演讲者却又喋喋不休，拖拖拉拉，没完没了的讲下去。比如 前面我说的几点是非常重要的，在此我还想强调一下，再罗嗦几句 。这样的话语就是典型的节外生枝。这势必会造成听众心理上的疲劳和精神上的困倦，让听众产生不满甚至反感。
3、不可冗长拖拉，漫无边际
演讲的结尾要像豹尾一样，干净有力，短小精悍，简洁明快，新颖别致。要以巨大的感染力，使听众以情绪激动起来，振奋起来。最忌拖拉罗嗦，漫无边际。演讲者有活则短，无话则免。有的演讲者一上台，不管有事没事，一开口就要讲几十分钟，甚至个把小时，没完没了，好像说话的时间越长越能体现自己的级别、水平和存在，而事实上，人人都反感说大话，说长话，说空话，说假话的人。
4、不可千篇 一律、废话连篇
有的演讲者开始说得不错，但一旦要结尾时就落入俗套，尽说些故意做作的、令人生厌的客套话，其结果，就像使听众吃了一粒发霉的花生，把满口的香味全破坏了。比如说： 今天我讲到这里，本来是不准备发言的，但主持人一定要我说，我就恭敬不如从命，由于时间关系，本人水平有限，加上没有准备，对情况也不了解，所以就泛泛而谈，随便说说，以上几点不成熟的意见仅供参考，谈得不对的请批评，说的不好的`请指正。 这种结尾就是典型的陈旧、庸俗、平淡无味、废话连篇的套话。是演讲结尾之大忌。
5、不可旁敲侧击、讽刺挖苦
有的演讲者，由于发现个别听众在演讲中不太注意听，加上某些听众对自己的演讲不感兴趣，或者在下边看报纸、织毛衣，或者交头接耳、小声议论，因而在演讲结尾时，演讲者就故意说上几句旁敲侧击的讽刺挖苦话，以此发泄心中的不满情绪。这种作法不仅是多余的，更重要的是表现了演讲者思想素质的低下，缺乏职业道德修养。
