Preface:Two days before ，National Day, a call came at 4:00 p.m. that my father has fallen down the stairs when working and his leg was badly hurt, now was curing in hospital. Hearing it, I nearly cried out. Suddenly, a sense that I may lost him fiercely attacked me. How I wish I could fly to him as fast as I can. It seems the two days was longer than 200 years!

As soon as the teacher announced the seven days’ holiday began, I got on the bus immediately. On the way I thought of all the occasion when I had not spent time looking after him, talking with him. I realized that I had no idea who he was, how old he was or what his deepest thoughts were. From then on, memories about him flooded back……..

For 30 years my father would get up every morning at 5:30 a.m. and goes to work, for 30 years he would return home at 7 p.m. sometimes later than that. Then he prepares dinner at 7: 30 and has it with mother and me. I never remember my father taking a “night out with boys” since he’s very busy with family affairs, his work. As a result, he even has no spare time with me, his only daughter. All he asks from me was to chat with him while we have supper. It’s the only free time that he and I both have!

My father has no hobbies, other than drinking and taking care of his family.

After I left home to attend senior school, my father asked me to call him every Sunday at 9:00 p.m. Usually, we had nothing special to say, but “ Have you had supper?”, “ How about your recent study life ?” Usually, my answer was,” Yeah, I’ve had it.” “Just so-so.”

I often had two days’ weekend every month at that time. So the most favorite thing for me is to sit around the dinner table, eating and chatting and laughing. He was especially interested in my life, how my school life was as well as my affection to first lover. Actually, he was strongly against my loving in senior school. He said I was still too young to burden all the responsibilities or pressure from society, family before taking up a good job. And the basic of love was to enter the university. In fact, I tried to be a good girl and departed from him, for I didn’t want to make my parents sad and disappointed on account of against their wills.

I never once heard him lament about his fate in life, conversely, he tried his best to be a good man, a man who tried to embody old fashion values, like respect, honesty, and trust. He’s a role model of his friends as a trustful, diligent and honest man. In a word, he’s mother’s good husband, daughter’s good father!

I vowed that when I arrived, I would make up for the lost time and have a nice long talk with him and really get to know him. In the following 4 days, I spent most of my time in hospital, cooking delicious food, washing clothes for him, telling my school life which I’ve already had a long time not to tell him. As a reward, he also mentioned the hard life he experienced. To my surprised, he even told me his first love story!!! He giggled like an infant child with tears running from his eyes.

It’s the tears of pain, maybe, he’s tired with affairs that he fought so hard for; it’s the tears of joy, maybe, he enjoyed the pleasure with his only daughter which he’s longed for.

Let everyone each day how much they mean to you, they maybe gone tomorrow, taking every opportunity to share pleasure with someone you love, especially your parents!

I love the way he teaches me things. When I complain about life and tell him how boring my life is, or if I say how tired I am or how I am under so much pressure, he always helps me to find a way to relax, and encourages me by telling stories of people who have overcomed all kinds of difficulties.

I love him just as he loves me. Although he always gets home late and is unable to spend much time with the family, I know he never forgets us. On the contrary, he works hard to bring us security. There is much love in his heart but, like many Chinese men, he doesn’t know how to express it. What he does is to support my dreams both financially and with his encouragement. He provides comfort to us unconditionally.

No matter what will happen in the future, no matter what will happen in the world, my love for my father will always stay true.

At the beginning of this term, I made a plan for my study. Now, I find that I carry it out well in the past month. I was poor in Chinese and English last semester. Therefore, I put the two subjects in the priority and I spent much time on them. Happily, I made progress in the two subjects this semester. Besides, math and physics is not so hard for me, but I must do many exercises to improve my knowledge. Half of an hour for each is necessary and I have always been doing so.
