一、Personal data(个人信息)

地道的英文简历一般只用写上姓名、地址和联系电话就可以了。至于性别、出生日期、籍贯、政治面貌、婚姻状况等在发达国家被视为隐私的信息,就没有必要写在英文简历中了。过于丰富的个人信息会使得英文简历看上去跟“全国人口普查表”没什么二样。

二、Job objective (求职目标)

通常,一般的求职者只会在简历里简单地写上所应聘的职位,例如:

求职目标:合资企业英文秘书

其实,若能懂得利用这小小的空间写出你更高的职业追求和理想,则能令招聘者对你加倍留意。 下面这个就是个不错的例子:

求职目标:从销售做起,之后希望有机会晋级管理层,从而为公司的发展作出更大的贡献。

三、Education (教育背景)

在写教育背景时,应注意英文简历中的时间排列顺序与中文恰好相反,要求求职者从最高学历写起,至于低至何时,虽无一定之规,但教育背景一般只用涉及高中以上学历即可。

值得一提的是,已经参加工作的人同刚刚毕业的学生相比,两者在书写教育背景时是不同的。前者因为已工作多年,雇主重点考虑的是其工作经验,所以学历只是一个参考的因素,因而不必写得那样详细,只需注明就读的校系名称、始止时间和学位即可。

而对于刚刚跨出校门,跨入社会的应届毕业生而言,由于几乎没有任何工作经验,因而教育背景对于他们来说显得格外的重要。最好是在前者的基础上,再简单地列举一下主修的课程及成绩。

四、Work Experience/ Work History (工作经历)

同样还是采用时间倒叙的方法,从眼前的工作写起。但为了简洁,一些不重要的工作经历往往需要被省略,只留下同应聘职位有关的`经历。求职者除了要将所服务单位的名称和自身的职位写清楚,还需描述一下自身的工作内容和职责。如果是专业的技术人员,就更需要在简历中详细地描述其专业技能和项目经验。

这一部分相对比较灵活。对于学生而言,可以是他们曾受到的表彰,得到的荣誉称号,或赢得的奖项等。但切记一定要避免那些“又红又砖”的荣誉称号,什么“三好学生”( “Three Goods” student ),什么“ 优秀班干部”(Excellent Class Leader),这些称号即使写在英文简历里,老外也不一定明白是怎么一回事。
