小花猫和小白兔是邻居，它们还是一对好朋友呢。今天它们俩可高兴了，因为它们的妈妈让它们去买东西。小花猫拿着妈妈给的钱，向家的东边走去，它要去买小鱼。小白兔拿着妈妈给的钱，向家的西边走去，它要去买大萝卜。
小花猫走着走着，花蝴蝶飞来了，多漂亮的蝴蝶啊，小花猫看了真喜欢，伸手去抓蝴蝶，花蝴蝶你不要走，我来跟你玩，等等我。
小花猫追着花蝴蝶跑远了，可它买鱼的钱却掉到了路边的草丛里。小花猫追着花蝴蝶越跑越远，等它跑累了停下来时，才发现手里的钱不见了，在回头一看：“糟糕，这是什么地方啊?”小花猫这下可着急了，买鱼的钱丢了，还迷了路，这颗怎么办?呜呜呜，小花猫急得哭了起来。
黑狗警察听到哭声，连忙过来询问原因。小花猫哭着把事情的经过告诉了它，黑狗警察听了忙安慰小花猫：“小花猫别着急，我来送你回家，以后可不能贪玩了。”小花猫点点头，跟着黑狗警察回家去。到家门时，刚好碰到小白兔，两手空空的小花猫很惭愧。它为什么惭愧呢?哦，因为小白兔在半路时看到蜻蜓了，它也很喜欢，但它没去追去买萝卜了，所以小花猫看看拿着大萝卜的小白兔，难为情地地下了头。
