It occurs to me that the author of the drawing aims at reminding us of the the value of a good example by parents. First and foremost, examples speak louder than words, for it is widely accepted that an example enables each person to transform his or her aspirations from a state of potentiality into reality. Put it another way, parents’ example enables their children to improve them selves, so they can be qualified for the future job, be ready for the forthcoming life, and they are likely to achieve more fulfillment. Furthermore, according to a latest survey conducted by an authority on the Internet, the majority of people interviewed answer that parents’ action produces more positive influence on the growth of their children than oral requirements do.
Hence, it is vital for us to derive positive implications from the above pictures. For one thing, we should frequently use it to enlighten young parents. Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. My topic is “Give environment more care”. I’d like to talk about some global environmental problems, share some of my stories and show you some data in my speech.
At the beginning, I’d like to ask you a question. Has your hometown’s environment been polluted, if it has, raise your hands please? (Thank you) Let me give you an impression of my hometown. That is a small village of Yunnan province. There are many mountains, forests and rivers. If you go there, I promise you will be amazed by its beautiful landscape. Because you just can touch the nature with your fingers and feelings. You can enjoy the blue sky, flying birds, waterfall, amazing sunset and many other sceneries. When I was a teenager, I often climbed these mountains and jumped into clear and clean river for a swim with my peers. However, after my graduation from high school, I came to Beijing for college. I found something different. Because when I raised my head, the sky’s color was not blue, but yellow. When I looked down, dirty and poisonous rivers are full of unrecyclable rubbish and giving out unpleasant smells. When I looked forward, so many people wore their mouth masks. Everyone here complains weather and environment. It seems so inharmonious between man and nature. Why?
As we know, in the past few centuries, human have made countless remarkable achievements in science and technology to explore the mysterious world better. Conquering nature with powerful tools, people have achieved material prosperity. Meanwhile, environment has been badly damaged. So a series of severe problems come along, such as species extinction, energy crisis, incurable diseases, the three main pollutions etc. All of these factors bring our beautiful planet disasters, humanity as well. Let me show you some statistics. According to the report from World Wide Fund for Nature, the species of entire world have declined by 52 % since 1970. That means about 75 kinds of precious species disappear forever from the Earth each day. In addition, scientists claimed that human now need one and a half Earth to meet the demand for natural resources. Another frightening data from the UN in , there are almost 8.4 million people around the world who die of cancers caused by environmental issues every year. It is so horrible, isn’t it? Man has taken too much from nature, also paid such a heavy price for it. If we don’t try to change these situations, what will happen one or two centuries later?
But, fortunately, the majority throughout the world are aware of the significance of environmental protection. Much many individuals, environmentalists and organizations have taken actions spontaneously. Companies donate part of their profits to support some green projects. Moreover, Government has carried out many policies to conserve endangered species, support green industries and encourage people to live a green life. From a global perspective, though it is a long journey to make the Earth recovered and to live in harmony with it, I do believe that, with everyone’s efforts, we will finally get there.
Ladies and gentlemen. For ourselves, for our children, and for all human beings, by the end of my speech, I do hope you can keep the following words in mind ---- The nature’s prosperity is humanity’s prosperity. Do you adjust your TV screen a bit dimmer to save energy? Do you re-use water for different activities around the house? 学生们都笑了。这么简单的事，有什么做不到的？过了一个月，苏格拉底问学生们：“每天甩手300下哪个同学坚持了？”有90%的同学骄傲的举起了手。又过了一个月，苏格拉底又问，这回，坚持下来的学生只有八成。

榜样就是用来作为仿效的人或事例，那谁或事是我的榜样呢？我觉得在NBA中的美籍华人球员林书豪是我崇拜的偶像，更是我效仿的榜样，为什么呢？
原因一：他在无人理睬时还如此相信自己。林书豪在前不久被尼克斯下放到他们在伊利县的D联盟，并在加入尼克斯之前，他已经被两家NBA的球队裁掉了，可他却在没有一个人相信自己的时候，给了自己信心，走向成功。可我呢，遇到一点小困难或被别人看扁时就不会再做这件事了，认为自己总是最差的，在努力做也没用的。所以林书豪是我的榜样。
原因二：他在机会来临时就抓住了。林书豪之所以能够做先发控卫，那是尼克斯不得已而为之，因为队中有太多的伤病员，所以他最大限度地利用了这次机会，才得以成功。是啊，“机不可失，失不再来”，可我却一直认为机会多的是，常常错失良机，还往往不知道机会在生活中何时会出现，现在明白了，它常常在自己最不抱希望的时候出现，出现了我们就要好好地抓住它，不要有丝毫浪费。所以林书豪是我的榜样。
原因三：他永远都努力奋斗。林书豪在这么多年中，有哪一天他在悠闲地休息？他永远都在奋斗，永远都在努力地完善自己的球技，所以他才会成功。也许你会想，走捷径似乎会快些，可是努力奋斗是没有捷径可以走的，成功也只是努力奋斗后的结果。没有任何人给林书豪任何捷径，他只是更努力而已。所以你就别指望你有捷径可走。我呢，以前也属于不努力一类人中的一员，只是希望有捷径可以走，但到我改变自己的观点之前从来都没有等到过。我于是得出一个结论：你只能控制你所能拥有的，也就是说你所能做的就是比别人更努力奋斗。所以林书豪是我的榜样。
愿因四：他从来没有学习过他人独特的地方。林书豪总是做原版的自己，没有做过翻版的别人，他没有成为乔丹第二，他只是做原版的自己。当然这并不代表你不必改变了，不需要努力了，而是说你需要找到你自己最擅长的，并且把它发扬光大。粉丝们会喜欢“做自己”的你，就像球迷们喜欢林书豪一样。但是我去总喜欢模仿别人，他们的优点、缺点还是特点，我都学，真的成为另一个他了。但现在我知道做原来的自己才是正确的。所以林书豪是我的榜样。原因五：他一直保持谦逊。

梅冬学习非常自觉，即使让他坐在最后一排，让他和纪律最不好的同学一桌，他也不会在课堂上随便说话，几乎老师每次表扬都会有他。他非常爱帮助同学，每次打扫卫生，梅冬都会多带几块抹布，借给没带的同学用。平时谁要是忘记了带铅笔、橡皮的，只要说一声，梅冬肯定会毫不犹豫地帮助他，真是一个热心人。
